Audi Cape Fear Brings World’s Largest Amateur Golf Tournament to Southeastern North Carolina

Cape Fear Regional Audi quattro Cup in WALLACE, NC | July 14, 2025
Audi Cape Fear brought the prestigious Audi quattro Cup golf tournament to Southeastern North Carolina this past Sunday, hosting a regional event at River Landing Country Club in Wallace. The tournament, which welcomed approximately 80 golfers from across the region, marked the first time the global amateur golf series has been held in this part of the state.
The Audi quattro Cup is one of the largest amateur golf tournaments in the world, with more than 38 countries participating annually. Now in its 34th year, the series continues to serve as a cornerstone of Audi’s brand engagement, blending sport, performance, and community on a global scale.
“This is about more than a game,” said Adam Limberg, Director of Audi’s Southern Mid-Atlantic Region. “The quattro Cup is about building relationships, creating memorable experiences, and celebrating the Audi lifestyle, on and off the road.”
A Strong Local Showing
Hosted by Audi Cape Fear, the regional event took place on the Landing Course at River Landing Country Club, a championship-level course nestled in the heart of Duplin County. Designed to showcase both natural beauty and competitive challenge, the location was selected for its outstanding facilities, scenic layout, and proximity to Audi Cape Fear’s customer base.
Golfers were invited by Audi Cape Fear and included current customers, prospective owners, and longtime brand loyalists. The event featured a shotgun start, closest-to-the-pin and long drive competitions, and an awards luncheon immediately following play.
“The course was incredible, the event was first class, and the energy all day was electric,” said Jeff Hale, Assistant Golf Pro at River Landing. “We were honored to be chosen as a host site for such a prestigious tournament.”
And, the Winners are:
1st Place: Gary Burner & Donald Eisenbeis
2nd Place: Patrick Duffy & Gary Weiner
3rd Place: Derek Woods & Tom Rowland
Long Drive and Closest to Pin Champion: Kevin Thomas
Community-Focused and Locally Sourced
In addition to creating a premium guest experience, Audi Cape Fear placed a strong emphasis on local collaboration. Tournament prizes, golf balls, and event supplies were all purchased from local vendors, including the River Landing pro shop, helping generate direct economic impact for the Wallace community.
“We wanted this to be more than just a great day of golf,” Chris Bucknell, General Manager of Audi Cape Fear, said. “It was important to us that the community benefits as well.”
The dealership has not confirmed whether the tournament will return to Wallace in 2026, but organizers say interest is strong and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
A Growing Legacy
First launched in 1991, the Audi quattro Cup has hosted over 1.5 million golfers since its inception. Each tournament pairs players in a two-person scramble format, with regional winners earning the chance to advance to national or international finals.
The event series is an extension of Audi’s global brand mission: to deliver exceptional experiences rooted in performance, innovation, and design. For many attendees in Wallace, that mission was evident at every turn—from the curated registration and hospitality to the brand’s unmistakable presence on the course.
“The quattro Cup connects people through precision and passion,” said Limberg. “And Southeastern North Carolina showed up with both.”
