Redwood Materials Partnership Drives Sustainability

Audi and Redwood Materials: Closing the Loop on Battery Recycling
Progress is more than innovation, it’s responsibility. In partnership with Redwood Materials, Audi of America is helping build a more sustainable future through the nationwide Consumer Battery Recycling Program. Together, we’re making it easier for drivers and communities to responsibly recycle household batteries and rechargeable devices, supporting a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and beyond.
How the Program Works
Audi dealerships across the country, including Audi Cape Fear, are serving as collection points for used consumer batteries and rechargeable electronics. The goal is simple: give customers an accessible way to recycle devices like old cell phones, power tools, and e-bikes. These materials are sent to Redwood Materials, where valuable elements such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and copper are safely recovered and reused in new battery production, reducing waste and lessening the need for mining raw materials.
Driving Toward a Circular Future
According to Redwood Materials, less than 5% of consumer devices containing lithium-ion batteries are recycled today. By taking part in this program, Audi aims to dramatically improve that number and set a new standard for sustainability within the automotive industry. The partnership reinforces Audi’s long-term vision of achieving net carbon neutrality by 2050, and demonstrates how thoughtful collaboration can create measurable environmental change.
Join the Effort at Audi Cape Fear
As an Audi dealership on the coast of North Carolina, Audi Cape Fear is proud to support this ongoing initiative. We invite our community to join in by bringing used rechargeable batteries and small electronics to our dealership for proper recycling. Each contribution helps power the next generation of sustainable technology and ensures progress remains as clean as it is bold.
